Melissa And More: News

Me, Peppa Pig and friends - August 26, 2010

Here I am with Peppa Pig and Forward Movin, just before our photo shoot with the daily Echo, these photos were taken byth NBSP community group who are the organisers of the One Big Community fun day gig on Sep 11th, Portswood recreation ground http://nbspcg.org.uk

We were all there to promote the event but sadly the rest of Melissa And More were at work.

The picture from the Echo is in todays ( 26/08/2010 ) edition on page 15.

We also have the Stokes bay vehicle rally gig this bank holiday Monday to look forward to. Lets just hope the weather gets better or I will have to borrow a pig suit...

Gig at Beaulieu 24th July - July 26, 2010

We had a great day at Beaulieu on Saturday. We had the chance to see some classic cars in the museum and a go on the mono rail.

Jerry even had the time to have a burger.DSCF0082_resized-cropped-bigtop.JPG

And here we are sat on the wall.....again..

New widget, gigs and things - July 15, 2010

We have just joined Tunecore and have a sparkly new widget to throw about.

It has gig listings, 8 live album, twitter, share and lots more..Have a look

We have also been very busy with the old rehearsals for the Beaulieu gig on 24th July. I have a new song but we have not had the time to go through it as a band just yet. We may play it at the Gosport vehicle Rally in August.

Gig at the Hobbit for Environmental rock - May 5, 2010

We had a great day at the Hobbit on Monday. Loads of people were there and there was a great athmosphere.

People of all ages turned up and there was a really good family feel to the day.

We all had a lot of fun.P1050067_resized-cropped-bandphoto.JPG

poster and gig - April 24, 2010

We have all been busy sorting out the set list, posters and cd's for May days gig at the Hobbit and our other gigs for this year.

Here is the poster organised by drummer Dave.Sophia_April_2010_023_resized.jpg

The set list was tough to sort out as we are only on for 30 minutes but we got there in the end.

Its looking to be a great gig and of course its our first public gig this year with Dave.

8 Live Album - April 10, 2010

We are all doing our bit for the "live" album. We have the recording which was done live at the JT Festival in Andover 2009, and now we are getting organised to sell it as an album at gigs.

Jerry is doing the artwork, Dave is sorting out the cases and fliers, I am burning the cd's that Dave is getting and the business cards have just arrived. The widget here is of the mini album. I will change the order most likely but these are the tracks...

gigs,rehearsals and things - March 22, 2010

Our rehearsals have been going well and we have a lot of material, including some new songs that we are perfecting. Dave ( drummer and percussionist extraordinaire ) has shown that he not only plays a mean triangle, but he can also hold the odd note and play keyboard too...We all had a go at harmonies and even Dave ( legendary guitarist ) managed to croak in key... Lots of interesting developments me thinks... Jerry of course can sing, he just needs a few sherbets / tiramisu cakes to get him going..

We have been busy chasing up gigs and applying to all sorts of festivals and events for the coming year, we await with bated breath as to weather we get in. I am not talking Glastonbury yet but I will ask nicely next week!!

We are all at tender-hooks at the moment, Melissa is expecting a baby and its late ( typical diva ). It was due on the 6th January. Still.. new songs are being written and everyone is practicing for the next gig. The ice and snow is probably to blame for the delay.....The thaw is pending...

Words chilled on Ourstage - December 20, 2009

Words (chilled original), by Melissa UK on OurStage

Beware Xmas postal scam - December 16, 2009

We have recently been made aware of a Christmas postal scam that is going about at the moment, please read this....

" A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS ( Parcel Delivery Service ) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 66...... ( a premium rate number )

DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £315.00 for the phone call.

If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 020 7239 665. "

Pass the info on if you can, its going round to households as well as companies, and as you can see its a bit nasty especially just before Crimbo....

Ourstage - December 3, 2009

We are doing well on Ourstage at the moment. Please vote for us if you have a moment, it would be wonderful

What Have I Done, by Melissa UK on OurStage

New Drummer - November 30, 2009

We had a very good rehearsal with our new drummer on Friday and we are all very pleased to welcome Dave Amey to the band. A bio and all the dishing of the dirt is now up on the bio section. We only have one rehearsal left before our next gig but we have every confidence. He is very good

We just got this award for One Man Woman, its an "Auddy award", which means it has hit potential.

I am a bit chuffed about it.

New drummer,gigs bits and bobs - November 23, 2009

We have been meeting quite a few drummers recently and we feel we have found a nice chap who will fit in well with us.

We have yet to hear him play but he is learning all the tracks that we will be playing at our next gig on 9th December.

Its not easy fitting rehearsals in as Dave and Dave work shifts but I am sure we will sort it out. Only 20 songs to learn.

The difficult thing is that some of the new songs have yet to be recorded so its a case of learning fast. We will get there.

Our Slice The Pie scores are at 7.14, not high enough but we have had some great reviews and its just a case of getting back in the studio again to record the new songs. Soon we hope, very soon.

We have sent off a few cds to radio stations and hopefully we will get some airplay. I have recently been informed that we have had airplay over in USA for Words and Say hello so I hope they will play it here again in UK.I will make a big issue of it if they do of course.

We are all looking forward to our future gigs and new songs, should be a great year ahead.

Slice The Pie nominations - October 29, 2009

Slicethepie would be honoured to win the upcoming Open Web Award for Best Online Music Label - and in order to be nominated we would love your vote!

The Mashable Open Web Awards are international online awards which cover major innovations in web technology and achievements in Social Media.

If you would take 2 seconds to click on the banner below and submit your nomination for Slicethepie as "The Best Online Music Label" they would be very flattered.

We think its a great website and has gained us quite a lot of new fans and exposed Melissa's music to music lovers of all genres. Our scores are pretty good too.

So If you have 2 seconds or there abouts , please give them a vote. Many thanks.

Rehearsal, Slice The Pie scores and CD Baby - October 22, 2009

We have a rehearsal in the hall tonight.

First proper chance to make some noise since the Puja festival a few weeks ago, where our poor drummer had 2 hours practice prior to the gig.

Lets hope all goes well as most of us have streaming colds at the moment.

We are currently on the Slice The Pie music player with 'Say Hello' scoring 7.21 and 'Words ( chilled )' at 7.27.

'What Have I done'  is at 6.98. It can all go down as well as up but the reviews are interesting.

'Anything' ep is winging its way across the pond the the CD Baby headquarters. Lets hope the postal strike does not cause delay.

Soon the physical cd will be available on their site as well as from here. Urls and bits and bobs to come soon....
